Building a startup is exciting and a lot of work.  Recognizing your strengths and weaknesses is important.  You must weigh the cost of bringing others to do some of the work.  Most startups can't afford a large or even a small design firm and thousands of dollars to create a logo.

Crowdsourcing has emerged as an inexpensive and quick way to design a logo, website, blog template, etc.  You post your project to a site like 99 Designs or crowdSPRING and designers "compete" to win the project.  Here is my experience.
